Why is commuting excluded from my car insurance?

November 16th, 2011 by Danielle Parker

When renewing my car insurance with Aviva, I noticed that using the car for commuting was excluded from “social, domestic and pleasure”. I questioned this, and Aviva charged me just £1 a year more to include commuting. PH, Norwich

It used to be included automatically with social, domestic and pleasure cover but Aviva has rated it differently for at least 15 years. Be aware that even driving to the station counts as commuting. Non-commuters now pay less because they make fewer claims as, generally, they avoid the rush hour. While you paid only £1 extra, Aviva says other drivers might pay more.

What’s The Criterion Of A Cheap Car Insurance Company?

October 27th, 2011 by admin

Several vehicle companies are launching smart cars, but not every car owner enjoys cheap car insurance. Most of the car owners do not realize how important it is to have a car insurance policy. There are a few companies that offer safe and affordable car insurance while some fool their clients under the label of cheap car insurance. Instead of offering a cheap insurance, they dig out more money from the client’s pocket.

Hardly any one of us knows that the car insurance companies follow a fixed criterion and this criterion affects the cost of the insurance offered to the client. Basically there exists a direct relationship in between the occupation of the client and his car’s insurance. This criterion affects the premium of the client. The cheap car insurance companies consider a stress free driver as a safe driver. According to their criterion, a safe driver is never in a hurry, he belongs to a stress free occupation and he often drives at a low speed.

Stressful drivers make a more use of cell phones during driving and this leads to accidents. According to a survey, majority of the cheap car insurance companies consider doctors, marketing executives and marketing managers as stressful drivers. These are not safe drivers actually. Such people are offered high premium car insurance. On the other hand the insurance companies consider writers, technicians, librarians and scientists as safe drivers. Such people make a very less use of cell phone during driving.

If anyone has stress less job then he should talk to his agent after going through his insurance policy again. May be he will be offered a more cheap insurance policy. Indirectly a cheap insurance company enjoys a benefit when a safe driver relies on it. This is because a safe driver pays the car insurance throughout the year and does not make any accidents. In this way there is a high profit for the car insurance company indirectly.

One can get his car insurance premium even more lowered through the fool proof method. It is true that a safe driver is an extremely good investment for getting cheap car insurance quotes.
